Company

New Hampshire Banking Company.   Established in 1879, this bank failed in 1897. It was a guarantee bank, which meant that 10% of deposits where held in a separate guarantee fund and would be returned to depositors in a failure. Based on the date of the certificate below, it appears to have taken a number of years to distribute the fund.

Certificate(s)

Guarantee Fund. Issued in 1903. #443. This certificate allocated a portion of the guaranty fund to John A. Spalding. It is signed by Charles Holman as President. However, he was actually Vice President (and a trustee) at the time of the failure.
