Dodge and Stevenson Manufacturing Co.. Sellers of mowers and reapers.
John A. Dodge. Civil war Colonel. Merchant. Banker. Born near Poughkeepsie, N. Y in 1818. At the breakout of the civil ware, he was a Lieut. Colonel in the 4th Regiment, N. Y. S. M. He at once raised the 57th Regiment, N. Y. Volunteers, was commissioned its Colonel, and led it to Santa Rosa, Florida, where it was on duty during the greater portion of its time of service. He took part in the bombardment of Pensacola, Fla., and many skirmishes. At war's end, he organized the Dodge and Stevenson Manufacturing Co, which produced mowers and reapers in Auburn, NY. Later, he moved to New York City and founded the John A. Dodge & Co, Bankers firm in 1873. It was located at 12 Wall Street.
