Whitman Mills. Constructed in the north end of New Bedford in 1895, it was the first major mill in town to owned by outside investors. It was control by "Harding, Whitman & Co", who also owned the Arlington Mills in Lawrence and the Southern Cotton Spinners Mill. Today, the mill remains and has been converted to an assisted living complex called Whaler's Cove.
