Troy Cotton Woolen Manufactory. Formed in 1813 when Oliver Chace, Eber Slade, Sheffel Weaver, Hezekiah Wilson, Benjamin Slade, Amey Borden, and others built thr Troy Mill. Although cotton milling had begun in 1811, the building of the Troy is considered to be the true beginning of the Fall River Cotton Spinning era. The mill itself made of granite and sat at the foot of the Quequechan River.
