Providence and Worcester Railroad Company. Initially chartered in 1845 as two seperate companies (Massachusetts/Rhode Island), the 2 firms almost immediatly merged. It became obvious that the railroad was going to destroy the business of the Blackstone Canal, so it sold out to Providence and Worcester, also in 1845, thereby providing the railroad with a cleared tow path for laying tracks. Trains ran between Providence, Uxbridge and Worcester.
Stock. Issued in 1847. #840.
