Proprietor of Boston Pier or the Long Wharf.   Organized in 1715 and incorporated in 1772. Boston's Long Wharf was constructed between 1711 and 1715. It was Boston's first wharf to extended beyond the tidal flats to deep water, enabling ships to load and unload directly onto. Prior to its building, cargo would need to be transferred across the flats in shallow-draft lighters. It also represents Boston's first land creation, which continued to the 1980's.
